FAQ
I'm not an “athlete,” can I still receive services from Win from Within?
Of course! Anyone who is experiencing pain, tension, or needs to take some time for themselves can benefit from services.
How often should I get a massage?
For prevention & maintenance, at least once per 4-6 weeks
For injury, typically 2-4 sessions within 2 weeks should help alleviate pain and injury.
The length of the massage is up to you. Typically a 30 minute session can only address one part of the body. 60-90 minute sessions allow for a detail work in one or more areas on the body.
How often will I need ART?
Since ART is often done when an injury has occurred, 2-3 session for 2-3 weeks is typically required. However, many patients find relief in just 1 or 2 sessions.
I've never had a massage – what should I expect?
Your therapist will greet you and ask you to fill out a client in-take form to gather background health information. Next, you will be shown the treatment room and asked to undress to your comfort level and lay under the sheet on the massage table while the therapist leaves the room to wash their hands. The therapist will knock on the door to make sure you are ready and with your OK will enter the treatment room. Unless you prefer otherwise, soft relaxing music will play in the background and a small amount of unscented lotion may be used to help perform the massage. The therapist will adjust the amount of pressure to your comfort level – you should not experience pain during the massage and at any point you can request more or less pressure from the therapist. After the session is complete, the therapist will leave the room, allowing you to dress and exit the room when you are ready.
Will massage therapy hurt?
Massage therapy shouldn't hurt. Occasionally there is mild aching when the massage therapist applies pressure over "knots" and other areas of muscle tension. If the pressure is too strong for you, let the massage therapist know.
How will I feel after?
Most people feel calm and relaxed after a treatment. Occasionally, people experience mild temporary aching for a day.
Precautions Massage therapy is not recommended for people with certain conditions: Infectious skin disease, rash, or open wounds immediately after surgery immediately after chemotherapy or radiation, unless recommended by your doctor prone to blood clots. There is a risk of blood clots being dislodged.
